OLIVIER M. HERTER (1995) works as a writer, artist and performer. His body of work consists of performances, stage plays, virtual reality scripts, librettos, poems and prose. Translations of his written works came out in both German and English.
HERTER graduated at the MAASTRICHT INSTITUTE OF PERFORMATIVE ARTS, where he received his professional training as an actor from 2016 until 2020. In 2020 he was artist-in-residence at DE SCHOOL, in AMSTERDAM. In 2023 he won the GRAND PRIZE at the VENICE FILM FESTIVAL, together with STUDIO NERGENS. His work was shown at the VENICE BIENNALE, MUZIEKGEBOUW AMSTERDAM, DUTCH NATIONAL OPERA, STAATSSCHAUSPIEL DRESDEN, EYE FILM MUSEUM, DE SCHOOL AMSTERDAM, SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST, among others.
In his work he explores language as dramatic action and as a speech act in the spatio-temporal domain, resulting in rhythmic thought exercises of searching speakers. With text, they look for meaning, grip and a sense of belonging in a ever-shifting world. Thus he creates an atmosphere of melancholic contemplation. As a writer HERTER works on a modular text repertoire of non narrative drama. In his written works the sensory experience
