OLIVIER M. HERTER

Olivier M. Herter (1995) works as a writer, performer and interdisciplinary artist.

In 2020 he graduated the Institute of Performative Arts in Maastricht, The Netherlands. In that same year he was an artist-in-residence in renowned club De School in Amsterdam, together with composer Boris de Klerk.

Together with Studio Nergens he won the Venice Immersive Grand Prize at the 80th International Venice Film Festival for the VirtualReality-production Songs for a Passerby.

His work was performed and exhibited in internationally at the Venice Biennale, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, South by Southwest, Eye Filmmuseum and the Dutch National Opera.

As a writer, Herter develops a non-narrative repertoire of texts. With text he creates mental spaces. His works a rhythmic thought excersices of speakers without a plot, with words looking for a foothold in a shifting world. Immersion of the audience into the sound, form and content of text is key his works, whereas a plot, anecdote or fictive narrative is often absent.
